Greg Richter 5-30-13  There’s no chance President Barack Obama knew nothing of the IRS targeting conservative groups, says political pundit Dick Morris. Why else would IRS Commissioner Douglas Schulman have visited the White House at least once a week?

“The incredible frequency of the White House visits — essentially weekly — indicate that Obama must have been deeply involved with the inner workings of the audits and harassment of conservative groups,” Morris writes on his website, DickMorris.com.
Morris asks what other reason would have brought Schulman to the White House 157 times during the period that groups with “tea party,” “patriot” and other conservative buzzwords in their names were being targeted for extra scrutiny.
“Not ObamaCare. Not without having (Health and Human Services) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in attendance, you wouldn’t,” Morris says. “About Treasury issues? Deficit reduction? Not without Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner.”
The reason, Morris says, is that Obama was following the IRS actions with an “obsessive, personal involvement.”
The Citizens United ruling galvanized Obama into action, Morris says, and “tapped so deeply into his psyche that he was determined personally to supervise the castration of the wealthy people and groups whose access to the political system was opened wide by the (U.S. Supreme) Court.”
Schulman held a subordinate, non-policy making position, Morris said, so to have seen him 157 times, Obama had to have been “a president on a mission.”
The scandal is not one of a rogue agency, Morris says, but one of a rogue president using the agency for his personal purposes. “An instrument of vengeance, or self-defense, and of political influence.”
President Richard Nixon was doomed, Morris says, when the public realized that his own paranoia had infected his entire administration.
“When Chuck Colson led the plumbers unit to investigate leaks and to use the IRS to terrify and intimidate his enemies, we realized that he was operating as Nixon’s man doing Nixon’s bidding based on the needs of Nixon’s psyche,” he writes.
The public now realizes that the IRS harassment went deeper than was initIally admitted, he said.
“This scandal will destroy him.”

Is Barack Obama the Muslim nation’s new caliph? Try to impeach Obama and you will see “Jihad” on a scale never imagined before!

Obama is galvanizing (uniting) the Muslim nation.
The Muslim Brotherhood is primarily Sunni, one of the two major sects of Islam and which the majority of Muslims are, including all in Indonesia where Obama was in his most formative years raised by his Muslim stepfather, Lolo Soetoro, and where his name was Barry Soetoro, not Barack Obama. And now he is aiding the Brotherhood with American tax-dollars and weapons to overthrow the Shia sect in Syria. Shia Muslims in Syria were until recently aided by the mullahcracy in Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon — both are Shia. But don’t misunderstand, the violent sectarian conflict between Sunni and Shia Muslims (seen in Iraq today)  has always been temporary, i.e., until a new caliph is chosen.

For the cameras, Abdullah of Saudi Arabia (Sunni) and Ahmadinejad of Iran (Shia) are in fact united against the United States, Israel and Western civilization. See the Sunni Muslim glaring at Ahmadinejad: It will take time for them to get used to unity.
So now We the People of the United States of America have a Sunni Muslim in our White House aiding, comforting and uniting Islamic powers into a caliphate while most American Citizens are truly struggling financially. Many of us don’t even have a bank account any longer and are dependent on food stamps.
If you do not know that Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. is a Muslim, then you do not know what Islam is, (i.e., you do not know what the Quran instructs), and have not acknowledged the facts.
Obama wrote in his book, “The person who made me proudest of all though was Roy, he converted to Islam.” A Christian would NEVER say that! Roy is Barack Obama’s brother and after “he converted to Islam” he changed his name to “Abongo“. What we must acknowledge here is that Obama’s mother married a second Muslim, Lolo Soetoro, who adopted her son in Indonesia and his name was Barry Soetoro. “Barry” is not a Muslim name and after leaving Indonesia he changed his name to “Barack,” an Arabic Muslim name. Also Barack wrote in his book, “Lolo followed a brand of Islam… I looked to Lolo for guidance.” What we must acknowledge is that Barry’s stepfather, Lolo, and mother enrolled him in two separate Indonesian schools as a Muslim. They could have circled Catholic, Christian, Buddhism, Hindu, but they circled Islam. And in a third quote from Obama’s book he says, “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” Instead of saying he is on the side of America, or of Western civilization, or on the side of the Jews and the Christians who are the victims of Islamic terrorism instructed by the Quran and hadith, he is going to stand with the Muslims. And we see him doing this daily: He has been aiding and comforting the Muslims on every issue and at every step of the way.
And that’s just up to 2010, and he has not changed course since then. And while he did approve of the killings of bin Laden and al-Awlaki (Islam permits killing fellow Muslims to spread Islam as the dominant power) Obama has never said anything negative about the advance of Sharia, including in the United States.
In 2008 a poll found that 1 out of 10 Americans believed Obama to be a Muslim. In 2012, four years later, a poll found 1 out of 6 believed Obama to be a Muslim, and these figures are rising. That’s because Americans are beginning to see and acknowledge that the Quran instructs Muslims to lie to unbelievers.

NOTE: Obama certainly needs Erdogan, but his allegiance is first to the global Muslim Brotherhood headquartered in Egypt and financed by the Saudis.
Obama showed absolutely no interest in helping the Syrian people fighting the Syrian regime, (i.e., has no interest in democracy or upholding human rights), not even when Prime Minister Erdogan of Turkey criticized him for not acting. It was not until the Muslim Brotherhood came to power in Egypt, a government that has already thoroughly proven itself to be another repressive regime, that Obama got involved. And King Abdullah of Jordan has seriously warned Obama that the Brotherhood got involved only to install another dictatorship in Syria. Despite King Abdullah’s serious warning, Obama is now aiding the Brotherhood financially and with weapons. Then suddenly the Brotherhood’s President Morsi rolled out the red carpet in a welcome to Iran’s President Ahmadinejad of Iran, the first trip of an Iranian leader to Egypt since 1979. “We can provide a big credit line to the Egyptian brothers,” Ahmadinejad said.

NOTE: At first it appeared that Iran’s visit was to compete with U.S.A., but now it is clear Iran sees Obama’s conspiratorial moves (giving aid and comfort) and is acknowledging the LARGER mutual goal, i.e., a caliphate. “Dear brothers, we must not forget to nurse our children and grandchildren on hatred towards those Zionists and Jews, and all those who support them. They must be nursed on hatred. The hatred must continue.”
Morsi has referred to our Israeli allies as “blood-suckers … warmongers, the descendants of apes and pigs … We must all realize that resistance (read as “terrorism) is the only way to liberate the land of Palestine.” Also, last October, Morsi was shown on Egyptian television fervent in prayer in a mosque as the cleric of the mosque chanted, “Oh Allah, destroy the Jews and their supporters. Oh Allah, disperse them, rend them asunder. Oh Allah, demonstrate your might and greatness upon them. Show us your omnipotence, oh Lord.”

It is no secret that many Muslims want Barack Obama to be their new caliph. It has in fact already been said, “As Caliph he would solve all our problems.”  This has already been publically stated in Pakistan, which is also of the Sunni sect. Obama was in Pakistan for three weeks in 1981 after he visited his mother and stepfather in Indonesia, a round the world trip that he has not mentioned in his books and at a time that he was struggling to find money for his college tuition. It must be mentioned here that Barack Obama has now given Pakistan billions of dollars in aid. “This law is the tangible manifestation of the broad support for Pakistan in the U.S.,”  the White House said in a statement. The videos below reveal how that “broad support for Pakistan in the U.S.” has come about.

Obama has in fact hijacked the United States government and if Congress even attempts to impeach him we will see “Jihad” as never imagined — that is because Muslim leaders in the Muslim Brotherhood see Obama as the Muslim nation’s new caliph. The random terrorist attacks, even the 9/11 attacks, were only done by loose cannons, i.e, an impatient few wanting to lead the “Jihad” and unwilling to wait on the lengthy strategy of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Barack Obama has been positioning himself (massaging other Muslim leaders) to be made the new caliph of a caliphate to rule the world, and he prefers to do so from Washington. If you think I’m theorizing (without facts), you need to look closer at Islam and what Obama and other Muslims are doing. Also, go ahead and try to impeach him — there are many reasons why Congress should have already impeached him, including being ineligible to assume the office of President and committing treason! Try now to impeach him and see what happens.
It has become evident that Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. has all the traits of a ruthless dictator, i.e., a narcissist, a liar, manipulative, a nasty temper, and very willing to violate and alienate human rights. I believe, to be the new caliph, is Obama’s highest ambition and why he is rapidly galvanizing “the Muslim nation,” a supranational fascist totalitarianism having the Quran as its constitution, even now reaching out to Iran with a passive Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel. This is also why Obama is attempting to stop Israel from striking Iran.

I write “mullah” because Iran’s “supreme leader” is not an ayatollah, but was only at the last moment given that title so he could be the “supreme leader.” In the same manner the Muslim Brotherhood and Iranian “religious leaders” will unite and appoint Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. as caliph. He will suddenly be the most revered “religious leader” in Islam—taking Mohammad’s place.

And Albert Beveridge is correct: It is not possible to preserve and protect liberty if we do not stand for “all American fundamentals—not some, but all.” All of our fundamental liberties are in fact our foremost security measures and if even one of them is compromised we have a major breach in our security. No doubt this is why We the People now find ourselves faced not only with enemies from abroad, but within. In fact, treason is now allowed to flourish in the United States.

Southern Baptist leader: If Obama mandate isn’t changed, Christians will go to jail

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE, February 8, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) – One of the most influential evangelical leaders in the United States says Christians should go to jail rather than comply with the Obama administration’s mandate to provide all contraception, including abortion-inducing drugs, in their health care plans.
Dr. Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC), told LifeSiteNews.com “we will not comply” with the Dept. of Health and Human Services’ mandate requiring religious institutions to cover abortifacient products such as Plan B, Ella, and the IUD.
“We want the law changed, or else we’re going to write our letters from the Nashville jail, just like Dr. King wrote his from the Birmingham jail,” Dr. Land said.

Dr. Land wrote an op-ed on Tuesday with Barrett Duke, vice president for public policy and research at ERLC, calling his fellow Southern Baptists and evangelical Christians throughout America to oppose any infringement on the First Amendment.

“The Obama administration has declared war on religion and freedom of conscience,” they wrote. “We consider this callous requirement by the Obama administration to be a clear violation of our nation’s commitment to liberty of conscience and a flagrant violation of our constitutional protection to freedom of religion.”
Dr. Land told LifeSiteNews he hopes Baptist ministers will “preach from the pulpit just how serious and dangerous this initiative by the Obama administration is,” and “encourage their parishioners to contact their congressmen and their senators and the president and let them know how deeply unhappy they are with this decision, and they want…legislation guaranteeing that it won’t happen again.”
“It is now in the providence of God,” Dr. Land said. “Our responsibility is to stand and say, ‘We will not comply with this. We want the law changed, or else we’re going to write our letters from the Nashville jail, just like Dr. King wrote his from the Birmingham jail.’ We will not comply.”
Dr. Land, who earned a Doctorate of Philosophy from Oxford University, has been named by Time magazine as one of “The Twenty-five Most Influential Evangelicals in America.”
President Obama’s recess appointment of Chai Feldblum to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) provided an insight to the president’s views, Dr. Land said. Feldblum has said whenever religious rights come into conflict with sexual rights, that sexual rights must prevail. “That’s exactly what’s happening in the Health and Human Services contraceptive and abortifacient directive,” he said. “They are saying that a woman’s right to have free contraceptive services and free abortifacients trumps the deeply held religious convictions of Catholics and Baptists and others. That’s a war on religion.”
Several of the Obama administration’s actions have convinced observers the president harbors an aversion to Christian values. “I do know hostility to religious conviction in the public square when I see it, and I see it in the Hosanna case,” in which the Obama administration attempted to narrowly define the ministerial exemption in hiring, Dr. Land told LifeSiteNews.com. He called the Obama administration “radically secularist” on his weekly radio program.
The op-ed he co-authored came exactly one week after Dr. Albert Mohler, president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, said evangelical Christians may be required to face imprisonment over the issue. Dr. Mohler said in his daily podcast, “You at least have to admire the courage of the Roman Catholic bishops in saying they are willing to go to jail rather than to comply with this. How many evangelical presidents and pastors and leaders would be willing to do the same?” 
“We’re going to find out in coming months,” he warned.
He said despite media coverage portraying the new regulation as a Catholic issue, “evangelicals need to stand back and – in our own terms, on our own doctrine – understand that our religious liberty is being similarly subverted and attacked.”
Government encroachments on religion have long concerned Dr. Land. Last December, he joined 59 other non-Catholic religious leaders in signing a letter to Barack Obama stating, “religious organizations beyond the Catholic community have deep moral objections to a requirement that their health insurance plans must cover abortifacients.” 
Dr. Land and Duke noted in their op-ed that the government protects other Christians from violating their consciences by exempting pacifists from serving in the military, but “the administration is refusing to allow those who believe that abortion is the deliberate killing of an innocent human being to follow faithfully the dictates of his or her conscience on a matter as grave as the death of an unborn child.” 
“A person who is not free to follow the dictates of his or her moral conscience is not free,” they wrote. “Our Baptist forebears died and went to prison to secure these freedoms.”
In the upcoming presidential election, Dr. Land hoped faithful voters would consider the importance of religious liberty. “This is a very serious and defining moment in American society,” he said.
The Southern Baptist Convention is the largest Protestant denomination in the United States, with more than16 million members and 45,000 churches in the United States.

The Bush regime’s response to 9/11 and the Obama regime’s validation of this response have destroyed accountable democratic government in the United States. So much unaccountable power has been concentrated in the executive branch that the US Constitution is no longer an operable document.
Whether a person believes the official story of 9/11 which rests on unproven government assertions or believes the documented evidence provided by a large number of scientists, first responders, and structural engineers and architects, the result is the same. 9/11 was used to create an open-ended “war on terror” and a police state. It is extraordinary that so many Americans believe that “it can’t happen here” when it already has.
We have had a decade of highly visible evidence of the construction of a police state:
the PATRIOT Act, illegal spying on Americans in violation of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, the initiation of wars of aggression – war crimes under the Nuremberg Standard – based on intentional lies, the Justice Department’s concocted legal memos justifying the executive branch’s violation of domestic and international laws against torture, the indefinite detention of US citizens in violation of the constitutionally protected rights of habeas corpus and due process, the use of secret evidence and secret “expert witnesses” who cannot be cross-examined against defendants in trials, the creation of military tribunals in order to evade federal courts, secret legal memos giving the president authority to launch preemptive cyber attacks on any country without providing evidence that the country constitutes a threat, and the Obama regime’s murder of US citizens without evidence or due process.
As if this were not enough, the Obama regime now creates new presidential powers by crafting secret laws, refusing to disclose the legal reasoning on which the asserted power rests. In other words, laws now originate in secret executive branch memos and not in acts of Congress. Congress? We don’t need no stinking Congress.
Despite laws protecting whistleblowers and the media and the US Military Code which requires soldiers to report war crimes, whistleblowers such as CIA agent John Kiriakou, media such as Julian Assange, and soldiers such as Bradley Manning are persecuted and prosecuted for revealing US government crimes. The criminals go free, and those who report the crimes are punished.
The justification for the American police state is the “war on terror,” a hoax kept alive by the FBI’s “sting operations.” Normally speaking, a sting operation is when a policewoman poses as a prostitute in order to ensnare a “John,” or a police officer poses as a drug dealer or user in order to ensnare drug users or dealers. The FBI’s “sting operation” goes beyond these victimless crimes that fill up US prisons.
The FBI’s sting operations are different. They are just as victimless as no plot ever happens, but the FBI doesn’t pose as bomb makers for terrorists who have a plot but lack the weapon. Instead, the FBI has the plot and looks for a hapless or demented person or group, or for a Muslim enraged over the latest Washington insult to him and/or his religion. When the FBI locates its victim, its agents approach the selected perpetrator pretending to be Al-Qaeda or some such and ply the selected perpetrator with money, the promise of fame, or threats until the victim signs on to the FBI’s plot and is arrested.
Trevor Aaronson in his book, The Terror Factory: Inside the FBI’s War on Terrorism, documents that the FBI has so far concocted 150 “terrorist plots” and that almost all of the other “terrorist cases” are cases unrelated to terrorism, such as immigration, with a terror charge tacked on. The presstitute American media doesn’t ask why, if there is so much real terrorism requiring an American war against it, the FBI has to invent and solicit terrorist plots.
Neither does the media inquire how the Taliban, which resists the US invasion and attempted occupation of Afghanistan, fighting the US superpower to a standstill after 11 years, came to be designated as terrorists. Nor does the US presstitute media want to know how tribesmen in remote regions of Pakistan came to be designated as “terrorists” deserving of US drone attacks on the citizens, schools and medical clinics of a country with which the US is not at war.
Instead the media protects and perpetrates the hoax that has given America the police state. The American media has become Leni Riefenstahl, as has Hollywood with the anti-Muslim propaganda film, Zero Dark Thirty. This propaganda film is a hate crime that spreads Islamophobia. Nevertheless, the film is likely to win awards and to sink Americans into both tyranny and a hundred-year war in the name of fighting the Muslim threat.
What I learned many years ago as a professor is that movies are important molders of Americans‘ attitudes. Once, after giving a thorough explanation of the Russian Revolution that led to communist rule, a student raised his hand and said: “That’s not the way it happened in the movie.”
At first I thought he was making a witty joke, but then I realized that he thought that the truth resided in the movie, not in the professor who was well versed in the subject. Ever since I have been puzzled how the US has survived for so long, considering the ignorance of its population. Americans have lived in the power of the US economy. Now that this power is waning, sooner or later Americans will have to come to terms with reality.
It is a reality that will be unfamiliar to them.
Some Americans claim that we have had police states during other wartimes and that once the war on terror is won, the police state will be dismantled. Others claim that government will be judicious in its use of the power and that if you are doing nothing wrong you have nothing to fear.
These are reassurances from the deluded. The Bush/Obama police state is far more comprehensive than Lincoln’s, Wilson’s, or Roosevelt’s, and the war on terror is open-ended and is already three times longer than World War II. The Police State is acquiring “squatter’s rights.”
Moreover, the government needs the police state in order to protect itself from accountability for its crimes, lies, and squandering of taxpayers‘ money. New precedents for executive power have been created in conjunction with the Federalist Society which, independent of the war on terror, advocates the “unitary executive” theory, which claims the president has powers not subject to check by Congress and the Judiciary. In other words, the president is a dictator if he prefers to be.
The Obama regime is taking advantage of this Republican theory. The regime has used the Republican desire for a strong executive outside the traditional checks and balances together with the fear factor to complete the creation of the Bush/Cheney police state.
As Lawrence M. Stratton and I documented in our book, The Tyranny Of Good Intentions, prior to 9/11 law as a shield of the people was already losing ground to law as a weapon in the hands of the government. If the government wanted to get you, there were few if any barriers to a defendant being framed and convicted, least of all a brainwashed jury fearful of crime.
I cannot say whether the US justice system has ever served justice better than it has served the ambition of prosecutors. Already in the 1930s and 1940s US Supreme Court Justice George Sutherland and US Attorney General Robert Jackson were warning against prosecutors who sacrifice “fair dealing to build up statistics of success.” Certainly it is difficult to find in the ranks of federal prosecutors today Jackson’s “prosecutor who tempers zeal with human kindness, who seeks truth and not victims, who serves the law and not factional purposes, and who approaches his task with humility.”
Just consider the wrongful conviction of Alabama’s Democratic governor, Don Siegelman by what apparently was a Karl Rove plot to rid the South of Democratic governors. The “Democratic” Obama regime has not investigated this false prosecution or given clemency to its innocent own. Remember how quickly Bush removed the prison sentence of Cheney’s operative who revealed the name of a CIA undercover agent? The Democrats are a cowed and cowardly political party, fearful of justice, and as much a part of the corrupt police state as the Republicans.
Today the purpose of a prosecution is to serve the prosecutor’s career and that of the party that appoints him or her. A prosecutor’s career is served by high conviction rates, which require plea bargains in which the evidence against a defendant is never tested in court or before a jury, and by high profile cases, which can launch a prosecutor into a political career, as Rudy Giuliana achieved with his frame-up of Michael Milken.
Glenn Greenwald explained how Internet freedom advocate Aaron Swartz was driven to his death by the ambition of two federal prosecutors, US Attorney Carmen Ortiz and Assistant US Attorney Stephen Heymann, who had no aversion to destroying an innocent person with ridiculous and trumped-up charges in order to advance their careers.
It is rare for a prosecutor to suffer any consequence for bringing false charges, for consciously using and even paying for false evidence, and for lying to judge and jury.
As prosecutors are rarely held accountable, they employ illegal and unethical methods and routinely abuse their power. As judges are mainly concerned with clearing their court dockets, justice is rarely served in America, which explains why the US has not only a larger percentage of its citizens in prison than any other country on earth, but also the largest absolute number of prisoners. The US actually has more of its citizens in prison than “authoritarian” China which has a population four times larger than the US. The US, possibly the greatest human rights abuser in history, is constantly bringing human rights charges against China. Where are the human rights charges against Washington?
In America the collapse of law has gone beyond corrupt prosecutors and their concocted false prosecutions. Unless it needs or desires a show trial, a police state does not need prosecutors and courts. By producing legal memos that the president can both throw people into prison without a trial and execute them without a trial simply by stating that some official in the executive branch thinks the person has a possible or potential connection to terrorism, tyranny’s friends in the Justice (sic) Department have dispensed with the need for courts, prosecutors and trials.The Bush/Obama regime has made the executive branch judge, juror, and executioner. All that is needed is an unproven assertion by some executive branch official. Here we have the epitome of evil.
Evidence is no longer required for the president of the US to imprison people for life or to deprive them of their life. A secret Justice Department memo has been leaked to NBC News that reveals the tyrannical reasoning that authorizes the executive branch to execute American citizens on the basis of belief alone without the requirement of evidence that they are terrorists or associated with terrorists.
In “freedom and democracy” America, innocent until proven guilty is no longer the operative legal principle. If the government says you are guilty, you are. Period. No evidence required for your termination. Even Stalin pretended to have evidence.
The United States government is working its way step by step toward the determination that any and every critic of the government is guilty of providing “aid and comfort” to Washington’s “terrorist enemies,” which includes the elected Hamas government in Gaza. The only critics exempted from this rule-in-the-making are the neoconservatives who criticize the US government for being too slow to throttle both its critics and “anti-semites,” such as former US President Jimmy Carter, who criticize the Israeli government’s illegal appropriation of Palestinian lands. Most of Palestine has been stolen by Israel with Washington acquiesce and aid. Therefore, nothing is left for a “two-state solution.”
There is no doubt whatsoever that the Israeli government’s theft of Palestine is illegal; yet, Washington, on which Israel is totally dependent, does nothing about law. Law, we don’t need no stinking law.” Washington has might. Might is right. Get used to it.
Not only for Palestinians has law ceased to exist, but also for Americans, and for Washington’s NATO puppets in the UK and Europe, pitiful remnants of once great nations now complicit in Washington’s crimes against humanity. The Open Society Justice Initiative, a NGO based in New York, has issued a report that documents that 54 governments are involved in Washington’s rendition and torture program. Twenty-five of the governments that help Washington to kidnap, disappear, and torture people are European.
The opening decade of the 21st century has seen the destruction of all the law that was devised to protect the innocent and the vulnerable since the rise of the now defunct moral conscience of the West. The West’s moral conscience never applied outside of itself. What happened to people in Europe’s colonies and to native inhabitants of the US and Australia is a very different story.
Nevertheless, despite its lack of coverage to the powerless, the principle of the rule of law was a promising principle. Now America under Bush and Obama, two peas of the same pod, has abandoned the principle itself.
The Obama police state will be worse than the Bush/Cheney police state. Unlike
conservatives who in times past were suspicious of government power, Obamabots believe that government power is a force for good if it is in the right hands. As Obama’s supporters see him as a member of an oppressed minority, they are confident that Obama will not misuse his power. This belief is akin to the belief that, as Jews suffered so much at the hands of Hitler, Israel would be fair to the Palestinians.
Glenn Greenwald writes that “the most extremist power any political leader can assert is the power to target his own citizens for execution without any charges or due process, far from any battlefield. The Obama administration has not only asserted exactly that power in theory, but has exercised it in practice.”
This is the power of a dictator. That Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddafi were said to have this power was part of their demonization as “brutal dictators,” a justification for overthrowing their governments and murdering the dictators and their supporters.
Ironic, isn’t it, that the president of the United States now murders his political opponents just as Saddam Hussein murdered his. How long before critics move from the no-fly list to the extermination list?

WASHINGTON -- Chinese hackers who gained access to the schematics for various U.S. ballistic missile defense systems were probably looking to learn if the United States was moving closer to fixing a longstanding vulnerability of the technology -- the ability to distinguish actual warheads from decoys and debris, according to a U.S. physicist.
The Washington Post reported this week that designs for a number of weapon systems with key roles in Washington’s strategy for defending against missile attacks in East Asia had been compromised by cyber hackers from China. That conclusion was made by the Pentagon’s Defense Science Board in a confidential section of a public report on cyber threats released in January.
The assessment said at least some of the cyber spying appeared to be "attributable directly to the Chinese government and military,” according to the Associated Press.
The United States is basing its regional framework for East Asia ballistic missile defense primarily on three different systems -- the Standard Missile 3, Terminal High Altitude Area Defense, and the Patriot Advanced Capability 3 interceptor. All three technologies were among those reported to have been hacked by China.
Putting herself in the shoes of Chinese military strategists, space physicist Laura Grego said she would be most interested in gaining access to the designs for sensor components that could provide greater insight into the technology’s capacity to distinguish separated warheads from decoys or the debris associated with the deployment of warheads from their missiles.
“The Achilles heel of missile defense is well-known,” said Grego, senior scientist with the Union of Concerned Scientists’ Global Security Program, in a Thursday interview.
The difficulty that U.S. sensors have in distinguishing between warheads and other moving aerial objects has been known for some time and was highlighted as recently as last September in a Pentagon-funded study by the National Research Council. Independent experts have strongly cautioned against the United States assuming too much confidence in its ability to defeat a possible ballistic missile attack so long as the targeting weakness remains unaddressed
In order to exploit this vulnerability, foreign nations in a real-life attack could release countermeasures such as metal chaff and decoy aluminum balloons from ballistic missiles in mid-flight that would be aimed at confusing U.S. radars as to what is the actual threat. The United States is acquiring more interceptors but they are expensive and complicated to manufacture while decoys are simple and cheap, meaning that there will never be enough U.S. missiles to go after every single detected possible warhead.
China has said it is developing “penetrative” countermeasures to U.S. missile defenses. This is generally taken to mean it is focusing on exploiting the discrimination weakness with decoys, according to Grego.
Even if U.S. interceptors in an actual attack are able to destroy nine out of 10 enemy nuclear warheads, the remaining weapon would cause massive devastation. For this reason, independent experts say it is crucial that the threat discrimination weakness be fixed and quickly.
China is likely interested in knowing if the United States is moving any closer to solving this problem, according to Grego. “What keeps China up at night is not the reality of [present-day U.S.] missile defense but the dream.”
The Chinese Defense Ministry officially denies ordering the hacking of the missile defense systems and other U.S. weapons technology. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is expected to discuss the subject with a Chinese military delegation this weekend at a regional security conference in Singapore. Beijing's suspected large-scale cyber espionage activities are also likely to come up during next month's summit between President Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to AP.
It is not clear exactly which blueprints the hackers were able to access. Missile defense systems come with multiple components such as interceptors, launchers, radars, command-and-control units, and kinetic kill vehicles.
The Defense Department has a number of primary contractors for its key antimissile programs. The big defense firms in turn subcontract out work on various components of the systems, spreading out the number of targets that the Chinese might have hacked. The confidential section of the Defense Science Board report did not disclose whether it was U.S. government networks or private defense computers that were breached.
It is also not known whether the schematics for entire antimissile systems were accessed or if it was just the blueprints for specific components.
Pentagon spokesman George Little said the department maintains “full confidence in our weapon platforms” and insisted that the reported cyber hacking had not led in any way to the diminishment of U.S. military capabilities or “technological edge.”
“A weapon system is so complicated and has so many features that can play a role in making it effective or not that the kinds of data that you would need to be able to really get any insight either positive or negative about the system would be really quite vast,” said Theodore Postol, a physicist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a prominent critic of the utility of U.S. missile defense technology.
Postol in a telephone conversation said he believes it is highly unlikely that China through its cyber espionage would have been able to extract enough detailed information to allow it to build complete antimissile systems based off the U.S. designs.
Grego said she is also having a hard time coming up with anything the Chinese could have learned by hacking the antimissile designs that would be a “game changer,” given that the targeting discrimination problem is already so widely known.
In the event that China’s cyber sleuthing was aimed at learning how it could adapt U.S. technology to improve its own domestic missile defenses, that would not mean much for the United States, the Union of Concerned Scientists expert said.
Washington could still be assured that any massive ICBM strike it might launch would overwhelm China’s indigenous missile defenses. The same holds true for any large-scale ICBM attack China might carry out on the United States.
No country has figured out how to defend against a massive intercontinental ballistic missile attack. What existing U.S. defenses could do -- to varying degrees and depending on where the technology is deployed -- is defend against a small-scale ballistic missile attack mounted by North Korea or Iran.
China, unlike the United States, is not worried about being attacked by Tehran or Pyongyang. If China is focusing on improving its antimissile capabilities against anyone, it is likely focusing on neighboring nuclear-armed India, according to Grego.

Iran could have enough launchers to send a salvo of medium range ballistic missiles that would overwhelm Israeli ballistic missile defense systems, according to a Wednesday report from IHS Jane’s.
A May, 26 broadcast on Iranian television showcased a collection of transporter erector launchers (TELs) capable of launching the Iranian Shahab-3 guided ballistic missiles.
“Iranian television footage showed at least 26 TELs lined up in two rows for the event, which marked their purported delivery to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force, which operates the country’s ballistic missiles,” according to the report.
The Shahab-3 is based on a North Korean design and is capable striking Israel from Iranian territory.
“The delivery of such a large number of missile launchers demonstrates the Islamic Republic of Iran’s self-sufficiency in designing and building the strategic system and shows the Iranian Armed Forces’ massive firepower and their ability to give a crushing response to the enemy,” Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said in a report carried by Iranian state news.
The more missiles Iran can launch at once, “the greater its chances of overwhelming defensive systems, such as Israel’s Arrow, which only have a limited number of interceptors ready to launch at incoming targets,” according to the Jane’s report
Arrow is a joint U.S.-Israel BMD system which saw its first deployment in 2000.
Despite the Iranian rhetoric, some U.S. analysts doubt Iran’s ability to overwhelm Israel’s defensive systems.
“The Iranians are very good at telling themselves they have terrific and devastating technology which a cynic or skeptic like me may doubt,” naval analyst Norman Friedman told USNI News.
“It is a lot easier to multiply [launchers] than missiles.”
The training and coordination to fire enough salvos to overwhelm a modern BMD system is substantial, former U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Tom Marfiak — the anti-air warfare commander during Desert Shield and Desert Storm — told USNI News.
“Launching a single missile from a mobile TEL is a complex task for a trained crew. Much has to go right,” Marfiak said.
“Launching a number of missiles, nearly simultaneously, from multiple TEL’s, is a good deal more complicated than just lining them up for a parade.”
